Online events can have their meeting point inside the portal itself: a video room with camera, sound and chat — no third-party conferencing tool, no link leading away. On the events page these appear at the very top under FLS.life Events.
How to create an event with a room is covered in Events. This guide is about the room itself.
Who may enter
- The organizer — always.
- Participants who are attending. For events that require approval that means: only after being approved from the waitlist.
There is no second approval step for the room. Whoever is attending and approved gets in.
Up to six people are in the room at the same time. If it is full, entering shows The room is full.
When it opens

The organizer's head start is deliberate: they should be able to check camera and sound before the first guests arrive.
The room closes four hours after the event start — or earlier, if the organizer ends it.
Entering the room
On the event card and in the detail view, next to the attendance button, you see the state of the room:

The button also appears outside the opening hours — otherwise nobody would know the room exists at all.
After the click a preview page appears with a note that camera and microphone will be used. Only Enter room on that page starts the connection. This extra click is necessary: Safari will otherwise not release camera and sound and will not play incoming media.
If a call from the chat is still running, the room reports You are on a call. End it first — both at once is not possible.
Inside the room
Participants appear as tiles with their name and member number. If you are alone, it says Nobody else here yet. The room is open — just stay.
Below the tiles sit the controls:
- Mute / Unmute — your sound.
- Camera off / Camera on — your picture.
- Share screen — transmits your window as its own tile; Stop sharing ends it. The button does not appear on iPhone and iPad: screen sharing is unavailable in every browser there.
When someone shares a screen, it sits above the cameras as a wide tile. In its bottom right corner is Fullscreen — the shared picture then fills the whole display and even small type becomes readable. The same button, or Esc, takes you back.
- Leave room — you go, the room stays. Enter again brings you back as long as the window is open.
Chat in the room
Next to the tiles sits the chat — labelled only during the session. Take that literally: what is written here belongs to the running session and does not land in your inbox. Whoever arrives later does not see what came before; whoever leaves takes nothing with them. For anything lasting there are Messages.
If the connection drops, the chat says so explicitly instead of quietly swallowing your message.
Moderation — organizer only
- Remove participant — on the tile. Whoever is removed is out of the running session.
- End room — closes the room for everyone, even before the four hours are up. Everywhere it then says Room closed; it cannot be reopened.
- Waitlist in the room — if someone is waiting for approval they appear as a box right inside the room, with Approve and Decline. Whoever is approved comes straight in. Without this you would have to leave the room, switch to the dashboard and come back — and the session would stand still meanwhile. If nobody is waiting, the box is not there.
On the dashboard the Video rooms block lists the rooms that are running or about to open — marked live or RSVP required.
When it does not work
